Afghan squad is admired as a role model

Hillary and Karzia praised on the the skill, dedication and teamwork of Afghan cricket team.

The news of Afghan national cricket team’s success have knocked the door of US government as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton opened here remarks with Afghan president Hamid Karzai Tuesday by pointing to Afghan national cricket team as a model for Afghanistan's reemergence.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton praised on the recent achievements of Afghanistan cricket by reaching the T20 World Cup in West Indies and its skill, dedication and teamwork.

"I might suggest that if we are searching for a model of how to meet tough international challenges with skill, dedication and teamwork, we need only look to the Afghan national cricket team," Clinton said, standing alongside Karzai Tuesday morning before a full day of meetings commenced.

 "For those of you who don't follow cricket, which is most of the Americans, suffice it to say that Afghanistan did not even have a cricket team a decade ago. And last month, the team made it to the World Twenty20 championships featuring the best teams in the world."


Captain Nawrooz Mangal led the Afghan squad in T20 World Cup.
