The Ambitions of US imperialism

Azeez Amin Ahmadzai 29.07.2012 22:41

Imperialism and colonization have been some of the most powerful systems in world history over the last five centuries, carving up whole continents while oppressing indigenous peoples and obliterating entire civilizations yet, it is seldom accorded with the attention it deserves by our academics, media commentators, and political leaders. If not ignored outright, the subject of imperialism is sanitized, as sothat empires become “commonwealths” and colonies become “territories” or “dominions”.  Imperialist military interventions become matters of “national defense” “national security” and maintaining “stability” in other regions.
The process of expropriating the natural resources of the Third World began centuries ago and continues to this day. First, the colonizers extracted gold, silver, furs, silks, and spices, then flax, hemp, timber, molasses, sugar, rum, rubber, tobacco, calico, cocoa, coffee, cotton, copper, coal, palm oil, tin, iron, ivory, ebony, and later on, oil, zinc, manganese, mercury, platinum, cobalt, bauxite, aluminum, and uranium. Not to be overlooked is that most notoriousof all expropriations: the abduction of millions of human beings into slave labor.
Asia, Africa, and Latin America have long produced great treasures of foods, minerals and other natural resources. That is why the Westerners went through all the trouble to steal and plunder them, and install puppets regimes to pursue their interests in prospect. One does not go to poor places for self-enrichment. The Third World is rich. Only its people are poor—and it is because of the pillage they have endured.
But when we pay attention to the word “Colonization” or “Imperialism”, immediately British concept of Colonization appears to our minds. The cunning British claim to be kind enough to raise the uncivilized and ignorant people of subcontinent to the civilized state. But there are some reasons behind that “Colonization”.
Let’sthrash out the imperialism of four big nations or the most civilized nations i.e. Britain, France, US and Russia. These four nations started a contest to turn the world into their colonies. Russia and US started to swallow their nearby and adjacent territories, islands and kept moving to the East and West while France and Britain jumped thousand miles away from their boundaries to occupy far away territories. The Subcontinent was one of those territories where France and Britain tried to occupy and fought the wars of Carnaticleading to a successful British colony.
The British markets were starving for raw materials, cheap labor and profitable land. They did not occupy subcontinent only for the sake of educating the uncivilized nation but to import sugar, rice, tobacco, silk, cotton, oil, indigo, Opium and spices etc. The Easterners were regarded as uncivilized people; and the Westerners said that since they were the refined race, it was their duty to civilize these people and in order to achieve their goals; they had to colonize and rule the East. They were so cunning that they never let the Easterners realize the exploitation of these “so called refined nation of the world”. They were after their national, cultural, economical, religious and political interests. .As the treaty of Westphalia was signed between various European countries in October 1648 in order to put an end the 30 years long war. One of its fundamental principles was that, all the European countries are abided to segregate Religion & Politics.  So British was after the colonization of such regions like Subcontinent to install stooges government which will help them to pursue their diabolic plans and continue to secure their national, political, economical and religious interests.

These refined people drew an imaginary line and divided the world into the East and West. They supposed that the Easterners, being uncivilized were unable to run their own governments and thought they were,by inheritance of power and knowledge, the ones that could uproot the ignorance from the Easterners while pocketing a penny for the price, which in fact was vice versa. They came for the riches with the pretext of bestowing civilization to the uncivilized.
These refined people of the world exploited the world by false and self-created theories that some territories and some nations need and beseech for dominance. Some British writers from mid till late 19th century used to convey this theory through their novels that subcontinent existed to be ruled by the Britain. If you read the writings of British novelist Kipling, with special reference to his novel”Kim”, in which he used Indian characters saying this, “without the English, India would disappear”. It would just not the same place. That was the very solid but fake impression, the British left over the Easterners and the outer world.
But it is interesting to mention that why Easterners considered the British’ very kind and sophisticated Westerners. There are many reasons behind it. They set up schools to educate the Easterners and they set up factories to provide employment to the Easterners. They built roads and bridges, they formed a lot many i.e. stores and they brought the new techniques and the industrial progress etc. Perhaps this is the only reason for which the Easterners are thankful for being ruled by Westerners. But how glaring vivid and graphic is the fact that the British set up schools to educate the Easterners young lot because they wanted the Easterners upcoming generation to work for them more effectively and that was possible only if they could learn the language of Westerner.  They were injecting the poison of slavery into their minds and were betraying them.
They set up factories to provide employment to the Easterners and apparently it was their kindness for Easterners but the fact is that they were using the man power and labor force of subcontinent for their own benefits. They built roads because they needed roads to send their produced goods and raw material to the sea ports and it was their basic need, it was not their blessing to the Easterners.
The same was done in Africa. This harsh, ironic and sinister reality can be seen in the novel “Heart of Darkness” by a British novelist Joseph Conrad. He very straightforwardly describes the lust of Britishers for Ivory and mines of Africa and the exploitation of simple and innocent natives of Africa by the hands of British.
So the repercussions of all the details are that the same is happening today with Islamic World. Islamic Countries are getting exploited by the hands of US who is trying to set its territories in many countries e.g. Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen etc. The British were behind the mines, food items, raw material, silk, cotton, tobacco and spices etc but the US wants sovereignty over the Oil and Gas. So the later is more cunning and exploiting the Easterners over a greater extent and want to rule over the whole world. US will never bear Nation working for Islam and for the Unification of Ummah. US Beneath the Umbrella of the So-called” Democracy” &“Human Rights” they want to bring the Muslim world under their occupation. Abolish the sovereignty of Muslim Nations & national interests, disgrace and defame their dignity and core values and benefit from the abundant natural resources permanently, granted to them by Allah. To achieve their dreadful objectives, they killed hundreds of thousands innocent people, likewise people were handicapped, sent to Prisons and still this process is going on…
In Afghanistan the U.S. military is burning Korans and urinating on dead bodies, suppressing and oppressing the people and their core values. Astonishingly some of our Afghan and Muslims brothers seek the invasion of US and its allies on Afghanistan as a chance to progress & development but they don’t realize the very fact that the invaders never do anything which benefits the local folk for the state which they have invaded.
We have to learn from the history. Afghan valiant nation have colored the pages of history books for all time. Their fore-fathers and grand fathers have overwhelmed against all the great oppressors of every time with great Faith, Passion and Afghan spirit.
That day is not far, when we will have our Afghan-own, Afghan-led Government on our great mother-land and put an end to this traumatic time for the Afghan nation since 4 decades everlastingly.  May Allah SWT bless us with Unity so that we can not only work for our country & Compatriots but also to serve the whole Ummah… Ameen
