Afghanistan to take part in Dr. M.A. Shah Lephone Night Trophy in Karachi
25.08.2010 16:15Afghanistan is taking part in the Dr. M.A. Shah Lephone Night Trophy in Karachi that is taking place from 20 August to 6 September. Afghanistan will be represented by Afghan Youth Cricket Association (AYCA)’s squad which leaves to Karachi on Thursday. AYCA will be contesting its first match against Korangi Al-Fatah on Friday, August 27, 2010.
Dr. M.A. Shah Lephone Night Trophy is contested among 16 teams including teams from Afghanistan and Hong Kong. The matches will be played at various grounds of Karachi city and all matches are played at night under floodlights.
Chairman of the Trophy Dr Mohammad Ali Shah has earlier told media “we assured them [foreign teams] for foolproof security and other facilities during their stay in Karachi”.
AYCA has received assistance from the Afghanistan Cricket Board and sponsorship from Etisalat Afghanistan, says the ACB. The ACB has provided the AYCA squad with 9 players from the current nation team while two more players (Badshah Hussain and Shafiqullah Shafaq) have also played with the national team at different occasions.
The tournament organizers say “the winning team will receive Suzuki also car, while Suzuki Mehran will be given to runner-up team, besides all man of the matches will receive motor cycles.”
All matches will be broadcasted by the Geosuper T.V. channel while Afghanistan matches will be broadcasted in Afghanistan by Shamshad T.V.
