Paktia’s Peace Trophy teams to play in proper uniform

The Peach Trophy teams will be playing in proper uniform after the Afghanistan Cricket Board has loaded Gul Pacha Majidi's truck with uniform for 480 players. Majidi is a member of the lower house of Afghan parliament (Walasi Jirga).
The uniform sent to Paktia includes cricket clothing and cricket cap for each player.
The uniform was ordered earlier this month when Paktia provincial cricket authorities decided to hold a 32 team T20 tournament and devote it to peace in the country. The Tournament had a good start, but due to floods the originally unsuitable cricket ground was further damaged and the participants had to wait until the ground dries. It has kicked off again and now 16 teams qualified for the second round. Eight teams will contest in the quarter final.
The Peace Trophy is played on this ptich that is damaged by floods in Paktia.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board is planning to spend 50,000 US dollars on developing a cricket ground in Paktia soon as was announced by the ACB earlier this month. ACB says it will start the construction very soon. Elders from Paktia met the Chairman of the ACB two weeks ago and demanded a proper cricket ground for their sons, Zakhilwal responded with a 50 thousand pledge given the land is provided by the local authorities.
Member of the lower house Gul Pacha Majidi promised he will finalize the procedures for securing a piece of land for the ground from the local authorities in Paktia, a similar promise made by another MP Sharifa Zurmatai two weeks ago. Both Gul Pacha and Sharifa are running for their seats from Paktia province in the currently contested poll for the lower house, and their late attention to cricket in this war torn province could be a part of their election campaign.
