Representatives from thirty provinces attended a seminar organized for enhancing their knowledge about cricket development at the provincial level, says the manager for domestic development Dawlat Ahmadzai.
The two days seminar, conducted on 21st and 22nd August here in Kabul, focused on explaining the role provincial representatives can play in developing cricket in their respective provinces and the responsibilities a representative has in this regard because “they are in a better position to advance cricket at grass root level” says an ACB press release.
Attendees have been made aware of the code of conduct that ACB recently issued and also signed from national squad players which amongst others include maintaining sound moral and keeping away from politics. In addition, officials and players at all levels shall have crime free background and the representative of a province shall reside in the province he represents and his age shall exceed 40 years.
Representatives are seen at the National Youth Cricket Ground in Kabul at a practical session of the seminar.
Nangarhar provincial representative is quoted saying “we need more of such seminars as we for the first time knew each other from 30 provinces”. Jowzjan’s representative Timor Shah says “It is the first time we know about domestic cricket in other countries and now I know how it shall be structured”.
Hazrat Wali who represents Paktia believes “this type of seminars develop understanding among provincial representatives and when we have good understanding among ourselves, the development of cricket will click.”
ACB also plans to hold a coaching and umpiring technical course with the assistance from the Asian Cricket Council in October 2010. Course instructors and trainers are professional and experienced cricket teachers provided by the ACC.
